VIC Exhibition – Chemistry of Colour

Size: Hanging works only, max of two per entrant, max size is 40 x 40 cm

The Theme: Contributing artists may use any subject matter; and mosaic medium/s they choose i.e glass, china, smalti, beads, ceramic tiles etc., however here is the catch…the artist must use either one primary colour or one secondary colour in all its tints/shades OR… they may choose to use  three colours in their work made up from the two main colours two primary colours and the one secondary colour make if mixed together.  For example Red and Yellow = Orange, Blue and Yellow = Green and Blue and Red = Purple, again the artist can use all tints/shades of their chosen colours from lights to darks.makes your mosaic medium/s colour choices if using only one primary colour or one secondary colour you will be working in values of either Red, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Green or Purple.  If using the three colour option you can use either option 1, option 2 or option 3 in your work, for example if you choose to work with option 2 then you will be working in values of blues, yellows and greens only, no other colours can be used. (NB: grout colour selection exempt).
(1) Reds, Yellows and Oranges,

(2) Blues, Yellows and Greens,

(3) Blues, Reds and Purples.

Below are some of the more positive aspects of these colours….
Reds: are daring, passionate, full of energy and power.
Yellow: signifies happiness, hope, joy, and is welcoming and sunny.
Orange: energy, balance, enthusiasm, warmth, and creativity.
Blue: peace, tranquility, stability, harmony, mediation connected to the sky and water.
Green: nature, environment, health, good luck, renewal, youth and spring.
Purple: royalty, nobility, spirituality
