Dorothy was a driving force in the MAANZ community, building up the MAANZ WA membership from two people to over 100. She was passionate about community mosaics and worked tirelessly in welcoming people from all walks of life into the world of mosaics. She became president of MAANZ in September 2022, taking over the role at a critical time. She managed this with great skill and dedication.

We will miss her terribly, but I’m sure her wonderful spirit will live on in our hearts. She is pictured here on a recent mosaic tour in Italy.

For me this image encompasses Dorothy’s joy in life and in mosaics and is the way I will personally remember her.

For many of us, Dorothy was a personal friend as well as a mosaic colleague and this is an extremely distressing time for us all.  I am passing on everyone’s love and support on to her family who are appreciative of the kind thoughts coming from the mosaic community.

There will be a full tribute to Dorothy in the next issue of Opus Oracle.
