Louise Herdman

Louise Herdman

The fascination with mosaics began in 2002, many hours have been spent experimenting and researching to find out more about this exciting art form. Louise has attended courses in New Zealand, Australia and online, with the pleasure of meeting other enthusiastic mosaic artists.

In 2004 Louise began part time study towards a Diploma in Art and Creativity with The Learning Connexion. Over the next 5 years she became more confident in her own creative processes. She has since had the privilege to exhibit and sell her mosaics for others to enjoy throughout New Zealand and overseas.

Creating mosaics challenge and inspire Louise to find new ways of developing ideas. She works intuitively and allows her designs to evolve during the creative process. Louise uses a wide range of materials.

Teaching mosaics since 2006 has been an unexpected joy for Louise. Every class there are new skills and inspiration as knowledge and happy accidents are shared. It was a real thrill in 2008 for Louise to set up her first teaching studio which gave her the flexibility to run a range of classes and workshops.  Years later… still going strong…

Louise’s focus is to encourage each person to be inspired to mosaic in their own way, using materials and designs that they choose to create beautiful mosaics to enjoy.
