Caitlin Hepworth is a Blue Mountains based artist working predominantly in contemporary sculptural mosaic. Her work is thematic, exploring narratives of regeneration, resilience, and transformation observed through environmental and psychological perspectives.
After her initial training in sculpture at NAS (2000) Caitlin led a fulfilling career in visual arts education in museums, galleries, schools and studios before turning her attention to the development of her mosaic practice.
To further extend and develop her mosaic practice, Caitlin has undertaken every opportunity to seek critique and instruction from both traditional and contemporary Mosaic Maestros in Spilimbergo Friuli, Ravenna, Sardinia, San Diego and Chicago.
Caitlin has been represented in numerous national and international exhibitions including the Waterhouse National Science Prize 2018 at the South Australian Museum and Sculpture at Scenic World 2018. She has been a three-time finalist in the Society of American Mosaic Artists – Mosaic Arts International, as well finalist in the Gallery of Contemporary Mosaics Chicago Stories we Tell. In 2018 Caitlin was a participant in the Third Symposium of Mosaic Art in Sardinia, Italy with Maestro Giulio Menossi and the 2018 recipient of the Society of American Mosaic Artists, Robin Brett Scholarship which enabled her to study with Maestro Verdiano Marzi at the Chicago Mosaic School in 2019.
Caitlin enjoys passing on her mosaic knowledge to her students through her Studio School and volunteers as the MAANZ Exhibition Coordinator, with the aim of raising awareness and the profile of mosaic art in the region.
