The workshop program has always been an important and central part of MAANZ symposiums. This year is no different with a fantastic line-up of 23 individual learning opportunities for delegates presented by incredible international and home-grown experts. Click the Workshops Details link in the sidebar or the button further down the page to view the individual workshops.
MAANZ has curated the program to create engaging learning experiences for those who are just beginning their mosaic journey, through to more experienced practitioners who are looking for higher level content.
MAANZ has selected experienced workshop presenters who will deliver content that addresses different learning needs of our community at difference price points, with events ranging from 90 minutes in length, through to more involved workshops of two full days (16 hours).
On offer are different learning structures including talks, panel discussions, mosaic performances and hands-on technical workshops that present opportunities to learn about classical and contemporary techniques in smalti and stone, stained glass, mosaic jewellery, community mosaic, sculpture for mosaic and more.
To ensure that students receive adequate assistance, all practical workshops are capped at 15 participants and every workshop will have an experienced assistant.
Some workshops will require students to bring basic tools and others will require participants to make design selections in advance of the event so that adequate preparations can be made by the tutor.
Where applicable, a workshop preparation pack will be emailed to students after July 2024. These packs will include more information about your workshop, an outline of the workshop program, design choice and a list of optional and essential items to bring with you.
Please read the workshop descriptions carefully before making your choice.
Waitlists
If you miss out on booking your preferred workshop, the MAANZ booking system offers a waitlist function, so should places become available you will be notified in order of your waitlist place.
Workshop Tour
Once the Symposium workshop program has met minimum booking numbers, MAANZ will release the details of an exciting MAANZ organised Workshop Tour. Ten workshops will be offered around Australia by visiting international tutors. This may be an opportunity to catch up with a tutor you missed at the Symposium or to supplement your learning with a leading international mosaic educator without the expense of travelling overseas.
Workshop Cancellation and Change Policy – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
- All cancellations and changes will incur an administration fee of $50 for each cancellation event, no matter how many items are cancelled. E.g. if three workshops are cancelled or changed at the same time by a registrant, then that incurs a $50 fee. But if cancelled separately on different days, that is $50 per cancellation
- Symposium Workshop bookings are not transferable to another delegate
- If you cancel a workshop booking, a refund will be issued to you, minus the $50 administration fee, only if the workshop place is resold by MAANZ
- Merchant fees charged at the time of booking are not refundable
- If a workshop is changed or cancelled by MAANZ, delegates booked into that workshop will be offered the choice of a refund or a place on an available alternative workshop
Workshop Changes
- If you cancel a workshop booking in order to book a place in another workshop, your first booking will be treated as a cancellation and a refund after the place has been resold by MAANZ
- If your cancelled place is not filled by another participant, you will not receive a refund
- You cannot exchange a place on a Symposium workshop for a place on a workshop on the MAANZ Touring Workshop program.
