I wanted to create a work that could show the impact of climate change and degradation due to rubbish in the oceans through my signature works of fish. I create my fish partly with detritus, discarded and found. These tesserae form the anatomy of my fish, and in this work they cycle from the ancient and natural world through the rubbish of industry through to the scourge of plastic.
