Lockdown Lava came to be during the most recent level four lockdown in New Zealand. I usually work in china and stained glass but decided the time had come to tackle a pile of second-hand slate which had been growing moss in the garden as I didn’t have any idea of how to process it.
I chose bright orange smalti as it contrasted nicely with the colour of the slate and I like the effect it gives of molten lava running through rocks.
