This work deals with domestic violence, specifically domestic homicide. I represent the pain these women experience,  physically and psychologically. The uterus shows that the victims of violence are predominantly women. I chose this type of marble because it has a bone texture. I wanted to recall the extreme violence that the bodies of these women undergo. The slate pieces show the hardness and recall the pain experienced. The intertwining marble lines show the winding paths taken to escape the grip of violence. Here in Canada, 15 women have been killed by domestic violence this year. Artists have to talk about social problems in their work to improve the world.
