What if evolution, as well as revolution – seemingly direct opposites of each other – are both aspects of organised chaos? What if change is an alternative between long periods of stability with little progress, and brief periods of revolutionary upheavals that abolish existing order to make room for new possibilities?
I based the composition on a diagonal line, prompting the viewer’s eye to shift back and forth, along that path. The pattern of glass rectangles represents order within which lies dormant the potential for revolutionary change.
The curling substrate is my take on the symbolic representation of cyclical recurrence.
