Much of my work is centered on our society’s throw-away mindset and our seemingly limitless production of waste. In my mosaics, I try to repurpose bits of this trash to bring back into focus their beauty, intricacy, and value. Some of the found items I like to incorporate include eroded ceramic tiles, broken crockery, beach plastic, vintage neon glass, rusted metal, slag rocks (mining by-product), and other objects that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Perhaps taking a closer look at these discarded items from a different viewpoint will prompt a new or renewed appreciation?
