Oro Mosaic Awards – application deadline
The Oro Mosaic Award offers grants of up to $4,000 to assist emerging and mid-career artists to take up professional development opportunities. The aim of the award is to support artists who show great promise and commitment to contemporary mosaic art. One scholarship will be granted each year.
This new Award was established in 2018 by Kate Butler, a NSW mosaic artist, in recognition that educational opportunities for Australian artists to extend their mosaic practice are limited, especially for artists living in rural, remote and regional areas in Australia. The Mosaic Association of Australia and New Zealand contributes financially to the Award.
In the last two decades, there has been a resurgence of the ancient craft of mosaics both internationally and in Australia. This period has seen practitioners transpose mosaic as a vehicle for complex artistic expression and conceptual investigation using traditional methods and experimental techniques. It is hoped this Award will, in the long-term, contribute to the advancement of mosaic as an art form.
Applications for the 2020 Oro Mosaic Award open until 20 November 2020.
